Terms for domain names

What applies in addition to the general terms when you register, transfer or renew a domain through HostON.

Updated: 08.10.2026HOSTON SRL, Mărășești

The Romanian version of this document is the legally binding one; this translation is provided for information.

In brief

  • Registry rulesEach extension has its own registry rules (RoTLD, EURid, Verisign etc.), which take precedence.
  • Accurate detailsThe registrant’s details must be real and up to date; otherwise the registry may suspend the domain.
  • RemindersWe email you several times before the domain expires.
  • WithdrawalOnce the registration you expressly requested is completed, the right of withdrawal for the domain is lost.

01

Partner registrar and registries

HostON registers domains through partner registrars (for .ro, TES Euro Media SRL), which pass the order on to the registry of the extension: RoTLD (ICI Bucharest) for .ro, EURid for .eu, Verisign for .com and .net, and the national or international registries for the other extensions.

By registering a domain, you also accept the rules of the registry for that extension (see the list at the end). In case of conflict, the registry rules prevail for matters specific to the extension.

02

Registration

Registration depends on the availability of the domain at the time the order is processed. If the domain is registered by someone else between the check and the payment, we refund the full amount or, at your choice, use it for another domain.

As the domain registrant, you are responsible for:

  • choosing a name that does not infringe trademarks or other third-party rights;
  • accurate and complete contact details, updated whenever they change; false details may lead to suspension of the domain by the registry;
  • the consequences of a dispute over the chosen name.

03

Prices and premium domains

Registration, transfer and renewal prices for each extension are shown on the Domains page and in the cart, excluding VAT (NET) or, if you choose, including 21% VAT (BRUT). The renewal price may differ from the first-year price; you see it before ordering.

Domain prices follow the costs set by the registries and partner registrars and are updated daily. The applicable renewal price is the one on the renewal invoice, issued 30 days before the domain expires.

Some domains are classified by the registry as “premium” and have higher prices, including on renewal. For a premium domain, we tell you the actual price before payment and process the order only after your express confirmation.

The money-back guarantee does not apply to domains, because the registration fee is paid to the registry immediately.

04

Right of withdrawal for domains

Registration is carried out immediately with the registry. That is why, when you order, we ask you to confirm expressly, by ticking a separate box, that you request immediate registration and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal for the domain once it has been registered. If the domain has not yet been registered, you can withdraw and receive the full amount paid. Details in the Refund Policy.

05

Renewal, expiry and grace periods

We send you email reminders before expiry (usually 60, 30 and 7 days before). If the domain is not renewed, it expires and, after the periods below, anyone can register it.

  • .ro

    Renewal after expiryabout 30 days

    Deletionat the end of the grace period

  • .eu

The periods are indicative and may be changed by the registries. Do not let an important domain expire: renew it in good time or enable automatic renewal in your customer account.

06

Transfer to HostON

A transfer from another registrar usually takes between a few hours and 7 days, depending on the extension. A transfer requires:

  • the domain must not be expired or in the redemption period;
  • the transfer lock (Registrar Lock) must be disabled at the current registrar;
  • a valid authorisation code (AUTH/EPP), obtained from the current registrar;
  • for some extensions (for example .com), the domain must have been registered or transferred at least 60 days earlier.

For most extensions, the transfer includes a one-year extension at the displayed transfer price. For .ro, the transfer follows the RoTLD procedure.

07

Specific rules for .ro

  • .ro domains are administered by RoTLD and can be registered by individuals and legal entities, with no residency requirements;
  • transfers and changes of registrant follow the RoTLD procedures;
  • RoTLD may suspend or delete a .ro domain that breaches the registration rules.

08

Specific rules for .eu

  • .eu domains are administered by EURid and can be registered by EU citizens (wherever they live), EU residents and organisations established in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway;
  • the registrant must meet these conditions for the entire registration period; otherwise EURid may suspend or delete the domain.

09

WHOIS data and data protection

Registries publish some domain data in the WHOIS/RDAP database. For individuals, most registries (including RoTLD and EURid) hide personal data; for companies, the company name and contact details may appear.

For extensions that allow it, WHOIS privacy can be enabled from the cart or from your customer account, if the option is available. Privacy protection does not release you from the obligation to provide real details: the registry and the registrar keep them and may disclose them to authorities or to persons with a legitimate interest, as provided by law.

10

Suspension of domains

A domain may be suspended or transferred at the request of the competent authorities, following a dispute resolution decision, or if it is used for illegal activities (spam, phishing, malware). We inform you, where the law permits, and tell you the reasons. HostON is not liable for suspensions ordered by the registry or by the authorities.

11

Domain name disputes

Trademark disputes are resolved through the UDRP procedure (for example at WIPO) for generic extensions, through the EURid ADR procedure for .eu, and through the RoTLD procedures or the Romanian courts for .ro. HostON implements final decisions.
