WHOIS lookup
Type a domain (e.g. your-company.ro) or an IP address. See the registrar, expiry date, nameservers, DNS records or who the IP belongs to.

What you learn from a WHOIS lookup
WHOIS is the public registry of domains and IP addresses. You use it before buying a domain or when looking for the source of suspicious traffic.
Who a domain is registered with
The registrar, the registration date and whether the domain is active, locked or pending deletion.
When it expires
Useful if you want a domain that is taken: you find out when it might become free (for .ro, RoTLD does not publish the expiry date).
Where it is hosted
The nameservers, IP addresses and email servers (MX) show which provider your website and email run with.
Email checks
TXT records show whether the domain has SPF, DKIM or DMARC, which are important for email delivery.
Who an IP belongs to
The organisation and network from the regional registries (RIPE, ARIN, APNIC), plus the approximate location.
Subdomains
For mail.your-company.ro you see the subdomain's DNS records and the main domain's details.
Frequently asked questions
WHOIS is a public service that shows which registrar a domain is registered with, when it was registered, when it expires and which nameservers it uses. For IP addresses, it shows the organisation and the network the address belongs to.
For .ro, RoTLD does not show the registrant through automated lookups. For .com, .net and most extensions, the registrant's personal data is hidden by the registrar, in accordance with data protection rules.
RoTLD does not publish the expiry date through WHOIS. The registrant sees it in their registrar account; if the domain is with HostON, you will find it in my.hoston.ro, under My Domains.
Yes. With every search we query the official WHOIS servers. For the same query we keep the result for 10 minutes at most, so as not to overload the registries' servers.
Yes. We show the DNS records for exactly that subdomain (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT), while the registrar and registration details are those of the main domain.
