The IP address is found through the public ipify service, and the provider and location from the ipapi.co geolocation database. The location is approximate and may differ on mobile connections or VPNs.
When you need your IP address
You may need your IP address when you are blocked, when you set up access rules or when you troubleshoot email problems.
Blocked access to a server
If a server firewall has blocked you after several wrong passwords, send us the IP address shown here so that we can check it.
Restricted access
Some services (databases, administration panels, SSH) only allow connections from approved IPs.
Email problems
If your messages are rejected, check whether the IP you send from appears on blacklists.
VPN
With the VPN on, the VPN server's IP should appear here, not your provider's.
IPv4 and IPv6
Many connections have both addresses; a website can be reached on either of them, depending on configuration.
Dynamic IP
Most home connections receive IPs that change periodically; check again before requesting an access rule.
Frequently asked questions
It is the address your connection appears with on the internet. All the devices on the same network (for example at home or at the office) usually access the internet with the same public address.
Your internet provider or router does not yet offer IPv6. That is not a problem: websites keep working over IPv4.
On most home and mobile connections, yes: the address is dynamic and can change when the router restarts or periodically. For a fixed address, ask your internet provider.
The location comes from geolocation databases and usually indicates the city or region of the provider, not your address. On mobile connections or through a VPN it can be completely different.
The block usually appears after several login attempts with a wrong password. Copy the IP address above and send it to support by ticket or email; we will check it and unblock it.
