Password generator
Random passwords generated in your browser, using your browser's cryptographic random number generator. No password is sent or saved on a server.
Generated with Web Crypto (crypto.getRandomValues), directly in the browser. The password is not transmitted and is not saved.
Other options
What makes a password hard to guess
Length matters most; then the fact that the password is unique and random.
Length
Every extra character multiplies the number of combinations. For important accounts use at least 16 characters.
Random passwords
Dictionary words, names and birth dates are the first things attackers try, even with digits or symbols added.
One for each account
If you reuse a password and one website is compromised, attackers automatically try it on your email, cPanel or bank as well.
Password manager
A password manager (for example Bitwarden or KeePass) remembers them for you, encrypted.
Two-factor authentication
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever it is available; even if your password reaches someone else, they cannot get in without the code from your phone.
Change after incidents
Change your password immediately if you received a suspicious email, entered it on a dubious page or a service announces a breach.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, with this generator. The password is created in your browser, with the crypto.getRandomValues function, and is not sent to the server or saved. You can check: once the page has loaded, the generator works even without internet.
For ordinary accounts, at least 12 characters; for email, cPanel, the client account or your bank, 16 characters or more. A long, random password is harder to crack than a short, complicated one.
Entropy measures how many possible combinations a password has: every extra bit doubles their number. Above 80 bits, a random password is practically impossible to guess by trial and error.
Characters such as 0 and O or 1, l and I look the same in many fonts. Without them, the password is easier to read and copy, with a very small loss of entropy.
You change the client account password from my.hoston.ro, and email mailbox passwords from cPanel, under Email Accounts. If you no longer have access, use “Forgot your password?” on the login page or write to us.
