Latency test
Measure how long a response takes from the HostON hosting server in Romania to your browser, compared with two other reference points.
HostON hosting server
The cPanel server in Romania on which customers' websites run.
–hoston.ro through Cloudflare
The network through which this website is served.
–Google (reference)
A comparison point with global infrastructure.

Press the button to measure latency. The test sends a few small requests and takes a few seconds.
What the test measures
Latency is the time it takes for a request to reach the server and the response to come back. It is not the download speed of your connection.
Why it matters
Every page makes dozens of requests; low latency means the website starts loading sooner.
Distance
For visitors in Romania, a server in Romania usually has lower latency than one in western Europe or the USA.
Your connection
Congested Wi-Fi, mobile networks and VPNs add delays that have nothing to do with the server.
Warm-up
The first request includes the DNS lookup and setting up the secure connection; that is why we do not include it in the result.
The median
We use the median of five measurements, so that a single delayed request does not spoil the result.
Website speed
For the full speed of a website, code, images and cache also matter; latency is only a part.
Frequently asked questions
It is the median time between sending a small request and receiving the response, measured in your browser. Under 40 ms is very good, up to 90 ms is good, and above 160 ms you notice it when pages load.
Latency depends on your network at that moment: Wi-Fi, other devices downloading, the mobile network or the VPN. Run the test a few times and look at the minimum value.
No. The test measures response time (latency), not your connection's download or upload bandwidth.
The cPanel hosting server tested here is in Vrancea, Romania. The hoston.ro website is served through the Cloudflare network, which is why we measure it separately.
Enable caching (for example LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress), optimise your images and use a current version of PHP. If the website stays slow, write to us and we will look at it together.
